The House Is Wired
Thank Goodness There Are Only Two Vendors
By Jeff Jordan
We had to switch our WI-Fi and Cable, TV provider. I won't go into detail about why, but it was the cost. I understand the concept of offering a lower price for initial sales, but the outcome of having to eventually double the amount doesn't seem like an excellent approach to the market.
It is incredible how quickly you can move from AT&T to Spectrum. A twenty-minute phone call got the job done. (A sales Rep and I worked jointly off of a website page.) Two days later, the technician installed the system in less than an hour. After setting it up and testing the system, He ran me through the intricacies of the Spectrum interface. Viola! We were in business.
To disconnect, the AT&T system took one phone call to a disappointed representative. After reassuring her, about ten times, I was not going change my mind, she told me I had to go to a UPS or FedEx store, provide my customer number, they would accept the equipment AT&T had installed and return it. No, I didn't have to take the Dish off of the roof. As it turns out, once the dish is installed, it becomes the property of the homeowner. The reality is that leaving the dish up there is practical because I might just switch back someday.
Doctor's Report:
My surgery seemed to take well. My doctor is happy with it and so am I. I'm able to put full weight on my left leg. Now the hard part for me begins. I will be working with physical therapy to strengthen my core and my left leg. Both facets of my physical being have been in hibernation for the better part of six months. Doctor Miller told me my progress from the walker to crutches, to a cane and then unsupported walking will take six to nine months. I'm thinking half of that amount of time.
Getting MY Grove Back On
I went to jam with my friends last Wednesday evening. I asked which name I should give my walker. I offered "The Jerry Jeff Walker" or "The Herbert Walker."
The latter was rejected because it was too Bush league.
Ay Tony
The Tony Awards Show was on last Sunday night. It is the only award show I watch. I watch it because I love live theater, but also the show is entertaining and informative. The best line of the evening came from Lucy Lu, who was making a case for funding young performers and mentoring them in the profession. She said, "Arts education is a right, not a privilege." If educating a child is a rite of passing on our identity and traditions, then learning about the Arts is a part of that education.
