Twitter Is For The Birds
By Poppa Jeff, AKA Jeff Jordan
I couldn't figure out why I am so comfortable on Facebook, with a constant threat of Russian propaganda and the so-called arrogance of Mark Zuckerberg & Sheryl Sandberg. These two (The two bergs.) are the face of Facebook. They are just two billionaires, just looking for another billion or two. Why are so many people angry with them?
My Twitter feed is so full of bile; it prompts me to try and feed it omeprazole. I learned early on that I didn't have to 'follow' TrumpleThinSkin on Twitter. Several well-known reporters in Washington repost his postings along with their learned and critical observations. Then there are the citizen commentators, who, if anything, can be bitingly humorous.
The answer is obvious. On Twitter, I'm following too many Washington insiders who often sound like one person posting under different names. Don't get me wrong, I'm on the MSNBC side of the page. I agree with a lot of what is said. But all most of these postings do is raise a concern about our President and, for the most part, plays into his attempt to make everything about him.
My problem is it just goes on and on. It's to the point that I'm starting to feel like I'm in a mud pit and can't move because it's up to my knees. I figured it out pretty quickly.
The difference between the two platforms is easy to see. Like most senior citizens, my Facebook contributors are people I know, or I'm related to them. I say senior citizens because I have learned that to communicate with my Grandchildren, I have to go to Instagram or whatever platform is in vogue now. I'm told we old folks sucked all of the air out of Facebook
Regularly, I see information about my friends and family. It helps to keep me in touch, It even reminds me when their birthdays are coming up.
Therefore, I'm taking a break from Twitter. I'll limit my time to Facebook.
I'm going to enjoy
On the family side,
Any more than this and I can't get anything done until after lunch

I'm going to enjoy
- Mike De' Sisti's photographs of sunrises and his daughters.
- For art photography, I look for Ken Kornacki.
- I'll continue to bookmark Kieth Stachowiak's progress with his home rehab, "The Parlor."
- I get enough political opinions from Barbara Cooley, Margeret Crowley, James Rowen, and Mike Rosen.
- My favorite cat pictures come from Anne Wilde.
- Elizabeth Meadows covers the 'all about dogs' front.
- My daughter rounds out the animal zoo with horses.
- Jeramey Jannene reminds me to check out the news of Milwaukee at UrbanMilwaukee.com
On the family side,
- my daughters-in-law keep me up to date on the "littles" and, if they can, the older ones.
- Janet Brownson tattles on her husband, bestie John B.
- Dave Nitz, the chronicler of my high school graduating class, keeps me in-the-loop when one of our classmates checks out for good and where the others are having lunch.
Any more than this and I can't get anything done until after lunch
Couldn't agree more, Jeff!
