What If...?"

What If...? This column was inspired by yet another highly rated Presidential Prospect from what is left of the Republican Party making a huge mistake. Ted, "My dad didn't kill Kennedy no matter what Trump says" Cruz decided that while first responders were dealing with what has turned out to be the worst disaster in Texas history, he would ease their burden by evacuating his family to Mexico without their assistance. His needs being met, they could concentrate on other less able citizens. Good on him, Right? But what if , when he got to Mexican customs officials in Cancun, they detained him because of suspicious activities he was involved in during the insurrection on January 6th. Countering their claim, Cruz demands asylum because he feared for his and his family's lives if forced to return to Texas. While pondering this question, Mexican officials interned Cruz and his wife in a wire-fenced temporary facility and separated his two daughters from their parents. Af...

Shiny New Things

Repeating my new shiny thing discoveries, I submit some stuff that I found in the Twitterverse.   This week. If there is hope, there is no need for violence. When there is no hope, then violence seems like the only choice. This is how War happens. The people who invaded the Capital were convinced by the United States president that without the violent overthrow of the government, there was no hope for them. I assure you that will be the theme of Trump's victory tour when he is exonerated from the charges in the articles of impeachment. Get ready, America. The reality show that was Trump's four years in office is heading into Season Two. On a brighter note The weather people all agree our high temperatures in Milwaukee will reach the high teens, mid-twenties, and maybe even the thirties between today and next Sunday. The winds will subside to get the 'feels like' temperatures into the above zero range. National recognition Last week MSNBC was doing a story on The recent...

There's the Movie and then there's being Frozen.

First , the second entry in my new fascination, crazy shit on Twitter. Today a crisis, the horns of the dilemma. Not to be too blunt , but it's f#*king cold outside. Let's break that down. There is cold. There's sweater cold. There's parka and long underwear cold. There's do not go outside cold. It seems to me that F#*king cold goes before sweater cold. Nobody is going to be F#*king outside in the weather we have this week. Or am I missing something? Moving on:   How many days since I've left my apartment building for anything other than grocery shopping?  Let me give you a hint. Every morning when I get up, I take my keys off the top of my bookshelf and put them in my pocket.  You learn to do that religiously because if you lock yourself out of your apartment or the building. Management will be glad to send someone out to help you for fifty dollars. FYI: you can't get a spare key for the building made. Since I don't leave the building or lock my door wh...

In the midst of it all.

Who says Twitter is a waste of time. How can they say that when you find gems like these. Is there a place so close that we call home? Frankly, when I returned to Milwaukee in August of 2019, I told people that I had the same feeling I had in 2004 when I first moved here. It felt like home to me. No, this time, I wasn't in the Downer Ave. Area. That was beyond my budget.  I settled gladly in the Lower Eastside, a mere two blocks from The Hop on Ogden, Metro Mart on Van Buren, and Juneau Park on Prospect. I have immediate access to bus line numbers: 14,15,30, and the Gold Line. This neighborhood is vibrant and diverse. It hums the way a city street should. I'll admit I am limiting my outside activities because of an incident a couple of weeks ago. The landlords of the many apartments and condo buildings are excellent a clearing and de-icing the sidewalks I need for exercise and shopping. However, the curbs at the intersections are often filled with snow or ice due to snow plowin...
