George Will, Columnist and Chicago Cubs fan, once said, "They wouldn't be the Cubs if they didn't disappoint you". Let's hope that, like his abiding faith in right wing political precepts; Mr. Will is wrong.
It' hard to see anything other than we have the first female president on our historical horizon. Aside from the possible contingent of over confident support for Hillary Clinton staying home, little stands in her way. What this means for us is going to play out in the next year. We can only hope. If she is elected, at least, we will be able to breathe again.
Our backyard friend Tom, the Turkey, has been here and not here all week. I worry about him and what does that say about me? All I know when he does pop in I feel a little better. I've been told by many people not to fed him. He is a wild animal and to feed him would somehow domesticate his instincts. I'm still not sure of this evaluation, but I have no plans to buy a bag of cracked corn and spill it in my back yard.
If you follow us on FaceBook, you might have seen a photo of me holding my latest Grandson, Felix. I've had wallets heavier than this kid. He is treating his parents well. He sleeps, eats and performs all of his other normal functions on a routine. His sister comes home from a visit to his other Grandma today. Okay, that's another reason to hold my breath. We only hope she understands.
We here in Wisconsin celebrate a double win as both the Badgers and the Packers prevailed in their games this week. Lately, this hasn't been the rarity it was in the past. With yesterday's win by Philadelphia over the Vikings, our road to the division championship got a little easier. Not only did the Eagles put a loss on the board for the Vikings, but they may have shown us how to do it.
The leaves are falling seriously now. Fortunately, I have a mulching mower so I don't have to rake them. There are some bike rides on the schedule and the landscape photography opportunites should be splendid.
So from the view high over Lake Maria, this is Poppa Jeff saying have a good week.
