If you were to migrate from the deep South to Wisconsin this year, you might be forgiven if you said that you were feeling cold. First of all, it's still hot in the South. Temps range from the mid-eighties to the nineties with high dew points creating humid conditions. The truth is, we in Wisconsin have been experiencing some below average temperatures with cloudy days. If you add a tablespoon of northerly breezes, the smart person starts looking for the sweaters in the back of the closet.
I know a number of us like this kind of weather. I'd accept a little more, no make that a lot more, of the sun, but fall is a great season for me. I don't like the freezing and seemly endless days of winter. On the other hand, while it's better than winter, the heat and humidity that we didn't get much of this summer weren't missed either. All Hail the early arrival of Fall!
We can finally see the light after our move from our tree fallen experience on the south side of the city. I mean we are actually see ing more light as the boxes and totes empty, and our belongings find a home. The cool weather has reminded me that the car will eventually have to go in the garage, providing some incentive to clean it out and clean up the remaining Stuff.
We have a brand new refrigerator to sell. Long story. Not worth telling.
I was surprised that my recovery from the jaunt to the left coast was kind of swift. The time change and the red eye return flight messed up my sleep cycle. A mere seven days later, I wasn't tired all day and unable sleep at t night. Look, I nap occasionally. I admit it. Frankly, it's one of retirements perks.
Nodding off at three in the afternoon is just how my cycle goes. I used to think it was just a low blood sugar thing and I would combat the condition by consuming a Snickers bar. When I hit 260 pounds, I decided to rethink that theory. The data confirmed my error and Weight Watchers solved my chubbiness condition.
Going back now to my post trip sleeping adjustment. Yes, an afternoon nap is okay, but when I could actually stay awake at that hour and fall asleep during the 'Today Show", I knew I was out of sync. Not that the content of that program can't be sleep inducing, but face it, falling asleep with my face in a bowl of cereal and fruit isn't normal, at least for me. It's gone now.
I'm sleeping normally. I'm happy. Lucy, our dog, has forgiven me for a couple of missed trips to the backyard she would have preferred to take, but didn't. She patiently waited by the back door, her paws crossed to help her not make do-do on the rug, while I snored away on the couch. She s spoiled beyond belief, but this challenged her entitled attitude to the max. I thrive in the beaming light of her smile once more.
